Way to go Workflowy... you're on the right track!

Excellent! Really impessed by the easy pragmatic solutions!

Loving Workflowy...only 3 days in and already hooked. Is there a way to add a sub-list that another workflowy user shared with me in my existing workflowy account vs. having it show up in its own URL? (does my question make sense?)

Is possible to add "change watching" feature to the share list?
When change content just send short email to specify emails or something like this.

There isn't a way yet, but we clearly need to add that ability. There's still a long way to go with sharing, but we felt like this was a strong enough start to push live.

Great update. The new collobaration feature is already being tested extensively by me and my girlfriend. We really mis being able to share a list as if they are within our own workflowy.
For example we now have a list of thigns to do for our holiday. But she has to go to a document outside of her own workflowy to use it. Which has a bit of a nasty url.

Perfect would be if you could add another workflowy user and that the tree apperas somewhere on their workflowy, a location of their selection and then nest seamlessly.

I love it! You've hybridized the depth and range of workflowy with the immediacy and connectivity of twitter. Who would think that's possible? Oh, and I LOVE underwater basket weaving, I psyched to find an advanced class!

After a bit of testing collaborating on workflowy, I have a bit of feedback.

It's brilliant, but it would be great if there was a different sharing option to share subtrees with specific people who have accounts on workflowy (or via email requesting them to get accounts on workflowy to access it)

These would not be treated any differently to any other item in their workflow list. They would now have this item in their larger tree and could reorder it to place it anywhere in their own list.

This would make it more secure for one thing, but also make it a real shared/co-edited document.

I see a security gotcha with this. If a shared list is a GUID (of sorts), what's to stop someone from just writing a program to go down a list of guessed GUIDs until he hits some data? Makes me nervous to use this for sharing company proprietary data, say, with a contractor. Imagine Apple using this to share a new feature for a new iPhone, working only with a contractor on NDA. Such a leak would be seriously disastrous.

I mean, does workflowy.com have the manpower in sysops, and the automatic code to chase this, to handle a distributed zombie attack that runs down a list of random GUIDs?

A better solution would be a GUID URL along with a username/password, or at least a GUID URL with a password.

Also, I hope you're not simply doing something like this:

$sListName = 'Sample List';
$sKey = md5(md5($sListName));

Instead, you should be doing at least something like this:

$sListName = 'SampleList';
$sPrivate = 'UUuV8323238-0A1#DAE';
$sKey = md5($sPrivate . $sListName);

I hope this helps you guys, because I like the product except for the security problem I see in the sharing system.

I understand your concern, but I don't think this is a threat in practice. There are 2^128 (about 3 x 10^38) possible shared URLs. This is an obscenely huge number. Even guessing at a rate of 1 million per second, it would take many, many times the lifetime of the universe to test even 0.001% of the URLs. So not too worried :) (The shared ids are random, BTW.)

That said, we will have authenticated collaboration in the future.

Any plans for adding a feature to track changes?

@Sam Yep. We're definitely going to allow you to track changes. We think this is important for non-shared accounts, in order to let people visualize what they've been working on. We're working on a preliminary test version of this right now.

I'm a little slow on the up-take with WorkFlowy. Kinda embarrassed I am just now getting in sync w/ your nifty platform. Noticed Matt Cutts is #1 on your Testi panel, so I hope you guys are talking to the G+ guys about linking these your solutions and if not, maybe you should circle back and revisit the notion? Strong works guys!

It would be awesome if I can have features like add new things only (preventing people from deleting stuff by mistake).

It's genius. Uh, as an aside, where the heck did the meme about "underwater basket weaving" come from ? was that something obscure in an old Dave Barry column or something ? I have a strange feeling that Dave Barry's sense of humor, along with Bill Hicks and the SubGenius folks, led to a sea change in US culture in the 80s that has now permeated hollywood with irony.

Been using Workflowy for a couple weeks now, excellent productivity tool! The "share" option is terrific BUT it would be even more useful IF I could 1) color code changes made 2) track who and when a modification is made 3) add a dialogue / threaded option (pop-up widget) to expand the collaborative nature of this awesome too. Well done guys!

@Neil Glad you like it. Yeah, we are definitely going to enable better collaboration features around changes. What do you mean dialog/threaded option? Like, a conversation mode or add on?

@Workflow yes and no (as to the dialog routine) one of the neat things about your app is how easy and simple it is to use (especially) for my no techie clients. Didn't want to imply the need to grow the feature-set, I sue Goog Docs for version control/tracking more so, it would be handy if I could solicit an opinion on a line item and have my client/RED my PM/Blue and Me/Green coded to build a fast consensus/survey "thread" thereby speeding up a decision on a task.

Long winded reply and a maybe bit cryptic - but being able to get fast input on a line item would be pretty handy for I'm using Workflow for.

@Neil Ah, I see. Yeah, we're going to have a lot of interaction related functionality embedded in the @tag. We use @Name to refer to one another and assign things.

Work Flowy is fabulous. Would be VERY handy of there were a COPY/CLONE module so I could clone an entire Set of primary/sub-tasks vs. have to re-enter 107 entries for a new client process.

Great to have access also with Ipad... where I miss the search tool.

I love the collaboration but it feels like there's another important part that still needs to be implemented. There should be a 3rd option when I click share called "Option 3: Insert Share" where the user can enter the url that another workflowy user has shared with them and then you have a synced node in your tree. Currently I have my own tree and then I have the shared urls that others have given me that I have to store as different bookmarks. I'd like those nodes to be embedded in my tree also.

I would love the option to just open it up in webpage format. Example, I could just take a leaf of my workflowy then just click "Create webpage fork", then anyone could access it from workflowy.com/new-page-i-made-and-named. Right now if i give everyone a hashed url, they lose it or forget it -- also they can't link it into their own workflowy.

Love your product and the way you leave room for imagination :)

I agree with everyone else who said they want to share with specific people (and be able to see a list shared with them on their main workflowy page rather than have to remember share URLs).

Also, I can't find anywhere where I can change my profile, alter the email address I use, delete my account etc. On the way?

It is just web based on everything. So, visit WorkFlowy in the browser on your iMac and in our iPad or iTouch, and use it there. We will have apps for the iPad and iTouch, and hopefully for mac too, but not yet.

Hi again -- seems my question got lost in the shuffle... or maybe it was unclear? I'm wanting to know if I can take a list that's been shared with me (originating from another user) and place it into my own workflowy (to which I sign on with my own username and password). This would be super useful.

Mattias: if you check the box in the settings dialog to send email summaries of changes, you (as the owner of the list) will be notified.

Sublists that have been shared with you should appear on your main workflowy list, with some sort of distinguishing factor such as a different color. I currently see no way to open a shared one without going to the original link.

Off topic here. Is there a way (and if not, could you implement one) to turn off the 'hint bar' that pops up every time I open Workflowy?

I got some issues with printing, and am wondering if it is just me. When I print, my tags with @ are invisible in printouts. They do occupy spaces. It seems like they are in white on paper.

Thought I'd ask about adjusting or establishing sharing from the iPad?

Also, it would be nice if we could copy multiple lines at a time from workflowy to another app, for example when you share a list for delegating, often the user will need to copy data in workflowy to an email, spreadsheet etc. if notes was not used and the data was in point form, each line must be copied individually.

I would also echo the many comments on importing shared workflowy lists into our own workflowy and vica versa.

A distinction between collaborators when contributing to a document would be helpful. eg. Color coding or assigned fonts for each collaborator to clearly indicate who contributed what, and when.

I think someone else had brought this up, but I could see benefit from being able to select a word, phrase, sentence or paragraph, and embed an active conversation on the merits of that selection, a chat window of sorts I guess.

BTW, I'm currently playing with moving our ISO Quality program to workflowy to enlist collaboration on its development, and maintenance.

Anyway, a great app that I had to throw my 2 cents at. Great job guys, can't wait for your updates.

Mark: We've been meaning to add some missing features to the mobile version (including iPad) but haven't had the chance yet. We're going to add multi-select of items for easy copying. For now, the export feature can help to move data out of WF. Advanced collaboration features are also planned.

None of us though, were comfortable with the security of the 'sharing' option. The idea that it's just a GUID that protects it. There is the old addage "security by obscurity is not the same thing as actually securing something"!

Fix this issue and you guys have an unstoppable product - great work!
