Hey there Workflowy folks, we’ll be posting updates biweekly to let you know what’s new and keep you in the loop. Last week we released several changes related to the upcoming “mentions” and “changes” features. As we mentioned in the last post, we’ll be running a closed test of the features before going to beta so we’re busy working on that.
Usually, when we build new features, we do an internal test then deploy to beta and finally production. However for these two features in particular we’re going to start with a small group of teams users and have them test these out before we release to beta. These are folks that are already using Workflowy in a team setting and have volunteered to use the feature with their teams and provide feedback.
There’s still some work to be done before the closed test but the bulk of the work has been completed. That means that the features are functional, and we’ve been using them internally for a while now. One of the reasons this release has taken a bit longer than our previous ones is that we decided early on that we wanted to release both features at the same time. They work really well together so it only made sense that both needed to go out on the same day for users to experience that benefit.
There are still some visual tweaks being made to how a user marks items as viewed and how mentions are presented. Getting these details right is really important to us as these are the things that often will make the difference between a feature that is pleasant and intuitive to use or not.
We’re excited to be getting closer to releasing these features and getting feedback from the community. We think that for folks that are already using Workflowy in a team setting, this release is going to be a game changer. And for those that have thought about getting their team into Workflowy, this is going make that much easier.
As we get closer to releasing these features we want to share a bit more information behind our thinking and design processes so keep an eye out for that.
Sound off in the comments if you plan to either start using the features with your team or if you plan to bring your team onboard once they’re out.
That’s all for now, see you in the next update.
