WorkFlowy Now Starts Twice as Fast on iOS

After we released our new mobile app, startup on iOS got really slow for people with large accounts. We’ve fixed that. Startup is now between two and three times faster on iOS than it was in the previous version.

For me, the slower startup was crippling my ability to use the app in situations where I was on the go and needed to write things down quickly, so I’m particularly relieved about this improvement. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

And lastly,  if you haven’t gone to the Apple or Play stores and given us a review, we would love if you could do that (5 stars would be greatly appreciated, but only if deserved).

Note: The next major iOS bug we’ll be tackling will improve moving. There seem to be a lot of potentially related bugs around drag moving that we’ll hopefully be able to squash.

No noticeable improvement in response time – it’s still prohibitively slow :/

I’m curious about the (technical) problem statement and how you folks managed to fix it. Would be great if you could share it here.

We moved from using Appcache to a fully packaged app, with all resources bundled into the file you download from the app store.

As an iOS 9.3.5 user who is affected by https://workflowy.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360010307043-ios-app-keeps-crashing-on-startup, I would rather have starts that are twice as slow than the nearly instantaneous crashes I get. Any idea whether or when this issue gets fixed?

We are finalizing a fix for this today. I have added you to our TestFlight test group and you will get this fix as soon as it is ready. Thanks for your patience and our apologies for this problem on iOS 9.3.5.

I always get the feeling you – all of you – care about making this product better. I am an attorney in a private practice group, but I use Workflowy all the time for notes on everything. Wish we had a good timestamp, but the portability and intuitive ease of the app are perfect. Notes I use for case excerpts – from Westlaw.

Just updated the app in iOS store. The speed was improved just about 20 – 30% I would say. Thanks for the improvement. Another bug I found for the previous release is, if you change the font size, the drag and drop function will be malfunctioning sometimes.

Thank you, keep it up.
Will give you your 5 stars, well deserved

Y’all are doing great work on the new mobile app and I like the next focus on dragging, agree this is buggy.

Separately, I enjoy swipe to complete and delete, but wish the delete swipe was shorter. I understand the intent, but for me, having the ability to undo mitigates the need for a longer swipe. Being able to customize the length might be a good solution but perhaps a lot to ask – would be curious to know if others don’t like the length of swipe to delete is currently.

Thank you – because of this issue, I had started to email myself notes quickly instead of using Workflowy, which defeated the purpose of Workflow entirely. But I don’t understand why the new iOS version can’t behave like the old version did when it wasn’t connected to the internet – like when I’m on a flight and I’ve turned on Airplane mode. When I did that on the old version, it would never ask to refresh, and just would just show the last updated version instead. If Workflowy iOS could just show the last version that was refreshed – prior to getting the updated version, which would update whenever it caught up (like the desktop app does) – wouldn’t that make it even faster?

This new version should work in airplane mode like you would expect (syncing things after the fact from all devices). Please email help@workflowy.com with a description is this isn’t working that way.
